Invitation Etiquette

Etiquette is a lovely word but it does not have to be complicated.

If you are having an event and it is special, written invitations are a way of setting the scene and communicating your story. All About Paper have years of experience in coordinating special events and creating invitations. You are in safe hands with the All About Paper design team.

A quick summary of some things you might want to consider, for big events as well as special birthdays, anniversaries, graduation parties, showers, well just any occasion that you want to invite people and make it special.

Save the date cards A great way to let your guests from out of town know about your wedding date is to send Save-the-Date cards. They may be essential for planning flights and booking time off to be with you. Save-the-dates should be sent out at least 3 to 6 months in advance of your wedding date.

Dress code
Dress code should be included in formal invitations. The style of your invitation and message projected can also reinforce formal vs casual events.

Money and gifts
Today it is very common to ask for money instead of gifts, how you ask for it is where etiquette is important. You may use a wishing well or a gift registry but please don’t include anything about gifts in the invitation itself, a separate insert is more appropriate.


RSVP
Response deadlines should be no later than 1 month before the special day, or the date your caterer needs a final count. RSVP cards included with your wedding invitation are a great way to make sure your guests reply quickly.

Bomboniere and gift giving

Many cultures include little gifts or bomboniere at celebrations as a special treat to say thank you to guests for sharing in the festivities. The word bomboniere translates to ‘a small fancy box or dish for bonbons’.

European’s trace this tradition back to early Roman times when fruit and nuts were given.

The first bomboniere packages were made of gold, precious stones, crystal or porcelain. Today we have so many more options than that, little bags or boxes in all kinds of shapes for all kinds of occasions.

Celebrating with Butterflies

Sometimes finding the right theme for a party or invitations to go with your theme can be like chasing butterflies. All About Paper is proud to be one of the major retailers for Christina Re papers in the South East Queensland area. We love to make your shopping and creating invitations for your special event as fun and full of pretty colours as chasing butterflies.

Butterflies are a great theme for an outdoor event, Christening, Baby Shower, Birthdays or Weddings, really any time that you want to celebrate a happy occasion.

Butterflies can be a feature on your cards or decorations using some of the pretty Christina re paper or any of our other pretty speciality papers in a variety of colours.

On this example we have used a punch to cut out a stencil of the butterfly shape for a very classic and very pretty but uncomplicated result.

Choosing colour schemes

Choosing colour schemes for a celebration can be good fun. Many of us have favourite colour combinations that we want to include in the celebration as a stamp of ‘this is my event’. On other occasions traditions and society give you recommendations, gold for anniversaries and white for babies are common but there are lots of other colours in the rainbow (and our huge range of printed papers) too chose from.

If you want a pretty blue for a little girl, or a hot red for wedding or tropical greens to celebrate living in the sunny state of Queensland, I am sure we will have something here on display to suit the occasion and many ideas on little things to make your event extra special

Things that make us smile

Working with people planning special celebrations makes me smile. There are so many special occasions in life that are worth celebrating, baby showers, christenings, 21st, graduations, engagements, weddings, anniversaries and special birthdays.

The other day I introduced you to the concept of mood boards. Home decorators and fashion designers use the same tool when pulling together ideas and themes. By clipping together scraps of things that make you smile very quickly you can see your style or story board developing.

That is where our design team is ready to help take your dreams and ideas to uniquely you invitations and paper accessories for your special event but at reasonable cost.

Invitations for Celebrations

We are hosting a full day event at All About Paper dedicated to invitations, table decorations, and those little ideas that make your event special. Wedding, Shower, Christening, Anniversary, so many events but all special in their own way.

$55 person for a full day event including lunch or bring a friend for a special deal of 2 for $90.

It will be a big day of creative adventures with pretty papers including the new release of Christina Re paper designed for invitations and special occasions.

Inspire Bridal

We are excited to announce that All About Paper will be advertising with Inspire Bridal and working closely with them on events planned for our local Redlands Region.

Redlands, Cleveland, Wellington Point, Ormiston, Redland Bay, Stradbroke and the islands are packed full of wonderful venues and locations for special events.
